For my efforts, I won Employee of the Quarter for quarter 2 of 2011.

Volunteering

I volunteer for the local branch of Terrance Higgins Trust as an odd jobs man and fund-raiser. I also assist with the running and supervision of their local LGBT youth group.

While at university, I canvassed with the Liberal Democrats: once in September 2009 for Norman Baker MP in Lewes, and between September 2010 and April 2011 with Councillor Paul Elgood in Brighton.

Hobbies

National and World politics: I subscribe to the Economist and regularly read: The Guardian,The Independent, Scientific American, and Google's online News Service as well as the BBC.
Debating: I was a member of the debating society at Sussex University and still enjoy healthy debate with colleagues and friends.
Reading: my favourite author is Terry Pratchett; I am currently reading classic writers such as Charles Dickens, Shakespeare and F. Scott Fitzgerald. I have just finished the novel The Beautiful and Damned which resonated keenly with my existential sensibilities
Philosophy: I have familiarised myself with a number of philosophers, including Schopenhauer, Hobbes, Wittgenstein and W. T. Stace.
Political Blogging: I am the author of Cerebral Liberal, a blog on which I critique mainstream British politics with an eye towards first premises.
Music: I listen to and enjoy an eclectic range of contemporary and classical music and whilst at University, I was a member of two bands: 'Dice', which was an Avant-Guard improvisational ensemble whose music was created through the interpretation of the random nature of dice rolls and 'Banishing Wand', which was a satirical musical comedy duo with Avant-Guard traits.
